Founded by Emma, in 2016. Without doubt, she is at her happiest being outside on the farm with her furry and feathery friends. 

 

It began with a love of chickens and geese, quickly escalating to larger animals such as Poll Dorset sheep and Black Welsh Mountain sheep. 

 

When surfing the internet, researching different breeds, she came across the Valais. She absolutely loved the way they looked and thought their markings were so unique. After more research, found they were extremely rare in the South of England and that is where a seed of an idea began to grow. 

 

About a year later, she travelled down to Cornwall to go and purchase her first ever Valais Blacknose Sheep. A mix of trepidation and excitement that marked the beginning of Gander Cross Farms' journey - being one of the first breeders of Swiss Valais Blacknose down South.
